1-Day Pre-Polishing for a Perfect Finish with Angela Evans

Polishing is only as good as the surface beneath it, and this course focuses entirely on preparing your work to a professional, polish-ready standard. You will learn how to correctly file, refine surfaces, clean up solder joins, remove scratches, and avoid the most common mistakes that become visible after buffing. Angela will guide you through developing control, consistency, and an eye for detail so your work is ready for a flawless finish. This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced makers looking to improve their finishing skills. Participants will need to bring their own jewellery work to polish. Participants may also need to bring some tools; a full list of required tools will be provided in advance.

2-Day Polishing Masterclass with Stephen M Goldsmith

Begin your journey with a rare insight into the career, philosophy, and craftsmanship of Stephen M Goldsmith. Through demonstration and storytelling, Stephen will share the techniques and mindset that have earned him the reputation of “The Guru.” You will watch live polishing demonstrations, then be guided step-by-step as you replicate techniques under his expert supervision. As your confidence grows, you will progress through structured exercises and begin refining your own piece of jewellery, receiving feedback and approval throughout the process. Stephen will support you in achieving—and exceeding—a professional finish. Participants must bring their own jewellery work to polish. Participants may also need to bring some tools; a full list of required tools will be provided in advance.

Stephen will also introduce barrel polishing and the specialist technique of thrumming, along with tips for adapting larger buffing methods for bench work. The session includes live demonstrations, guided practice, and experimentation with specialist attachments. Participants must bring their own jewellery work to polish. Participants may also need to bring some tools; a full list of required tools will be provided in advance.
