Beginners Sewing Course 3/10/2026 (Half Day)

10:00am – 1:00pm

Take your first steps into the world of sewing with this friendly, hands-on beginners' workshop, led by award-winning designer Nicola Carr. Whether you're completely new to sewing or looking to refresh your skills, this relaxed class will give you the confidence to get started.

Throughout the morning you'll learn how to safely set up and operate a sewing machine, understand the different types of needles and threads, wind and insert a bobbin, adjust tension, and practise a variety of essential stitches and seams. You'll also learn simple machine maintenance tips to help keep your sewing machine running smoothly.

As you build your skills, you'll create a practical fabric case to store your sewing tools – the perfect first project to take home and use for future makes.

This course is ideal for complete beginners and anyone wanting to revisit the fundamentals before moving on to garment making. It also provides the perfect foundation for our Intermediate Sewing Course in November.

What to bring:

·       Your own sewing machine (we have a limited number available to borrow, so you must let us know when you book).

All fabric, materials and refreshments will be provided.

The course will be held in the Siop iard workshop (upstairs, no lift access).
